My work with writers is built on the foundation of how MFA programs in Creative Writing are taught in universities, and this independent study follows the same process. Instead of a thesis chair, you have access to a teacher and writing coach, and it’s all about your writing, your way.
While I provide the invaluable support and guidance you’d expect from a mentor, the focus of the independent study goes beyond just your project. We dive deep into literary works, extracting invaluable insights and techniques to elevate your writing.

Here’s how the independent study program works:
Scheduling Sessions: We’ll connect via Zoom for two 45-minute sessions per month. Depending on your preference, you can choose between a 2-month, 4-month or 6-month duration for the program.

Exploring Literature: Together, we’ll dive into the selected book, dissecting its themes, techniques, and nuances. Our discussions will be enriching and thought-provoking, providing you with valuable insights into the craft of writing.
Project Discussion: In addition to exploring literature, we’ll also dedicate time to discuss your writing project. Whether you’re working on a novel, a collection of poems, or any other form of writing, I’ll provide guidance and feedback to help you progress.
Further Learning: Between sessions, I may recommend additional reading or writing techniques to enhance your understanding and skills. We’ll then discuss these recommendations during our next meeting, ensuring a continuous learning process.
